So Much Happy - Birthday Cards

Hi!  I didn't get to play with my stamps much last week because the cabinets for our game room arrived and needed to be primed and painted!  Painting is typically my job when we have projects around the house, and I am not fast.  I think the cabinets turned out great and am so HAPPY they are in!  Next project - Paint the improvised counter top!

When I did get to spend some time stamping, I decided to use the So Much Happy stamp set with coordinating Happy Dies.  This is the first card I made.

My hubby thought I needed to make something a little more colorful for the next one, so this is what I came up with.  He thinks it's perfect for a young boy.  What do you think?

For the stars in the background, I colored each star individually on the stamp, then stamped.  I repeated the process every time before stamping, being sure to color each star the same color previously used.  When using this technique, always make sure to start with your lightest color.  I also turned the stamp a little when stamping, so it wasn't all exactly the same.

The ingredients for the 2nd card is below.  Happy stamping!

Triple Yellow Butterfly Card

How do you start when you want to make a card?  Do you start with the stamp set, with a specific person in mind, with a template, or something else?  One of the ways I like to start is to grab a stamp set, then sit down with it and Stampin' Up!'s current catalog.  I flip through the catalog until I find something I can change up a little and use with the chosen set.

This card is found on p. 23 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  I really like the simple layout of this one, but I don't have this stamp set.  However, I do have Butterfly Gala, which is what I really wanted to use. So, I changed up the colors and voila, a beautiful card!

What do you think?  Let me know if you need a catalog for inspiration!  Or you can download a pdf of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog here and the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog here.

Beautiful Butterfly Card

For today's card, I decided to use an old technique that's super easy, adds as much color as you want, and really makes your image POP!

Aren't these colors gorgeous together?  I have always loved Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock has been a favorite since it was released.  I can't believe I never thought to pair them up until I saw them used together in the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper (p. 53 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog). Perfect combo!

The Basic Gray cardstock is cut to 8.5"x5.5" and scored at 4.25"
The Whisper White cardstock is 3" square
The butterflies were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock

To create the background on the square piece of whisper white cardstock, I used sponge daubers with Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock.  I did "stamp off" a couple of times before sponging to keep the background from getting too dark.

I added a little color, using the same sponge daubers, to the inside of the card.  :)

I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did!  Happy Stamping!
