Stampin' Up! Caroling Mice ~ Friend Card

Today's card was inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge 401.  This is another great sketch that already has so many unique entries in the challenge!  I know I'm repeating myself, but sketch challenges are super when you need a little nudge in the inspiration department, or are just wanted to do something new and different.

I almost boo-booed on these mice.  Well, actually, I did boo-boo, but I like the way it turned out.  You see, after coloring the gray mouse, I started coloring the scarf and hat on the white mouse, then just continued on and started coloring his head, too...GREEN!  That wasn't okay.  Rather than starting completely over, I decided to fussy cut the gray mouse out and I set it aside.  Then, I restamped the the other mouse, colored it, the way I wanted this time, and fussy cut it out.  I like the way it ended up because having them cut out separately allowed me to glue the white mouse on the circles, then use Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the gray mouse up!

Here's a tip ~ After fussy cutting closely around an image, use the edge of the brush tip on a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to go around the edge of the image.  This gives it a cleaner, sharper edge, without random bits of white showing.

The sentiment was stamped once on Sweet Sorbet cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then stamped again (after cleaning the stamp) with Versamark on Basic Black cardstock.  After heat embossing 'friend' with Gold Emboss Powder, I fussy cut around it and glued it over the original word.

Stampin' Up! Caroling Mice ~ Christmas Card

I have thoroughly enjoyed creating with Stampin' Up!'s Caroling Mice stamps this week.  (One more card with this set coming tomorrow!)  It's been so relaxing to color these mice in different colors.  Have you been inspired to get out some stamps and color for a card?

It's hard to see in the photos, but the Sweet Sorbet strip behind mice is Glimmer Paper and has a bit of a fun sparkle!  The ribbon is also metallic and sparkly.  I love adding different textures to cards.  Do you?
