Stampin' Up! Penguin Place Birthday Card

Hey stampers!  Sketch Saturday has a great sketch for you this week!  SO many possibilities with this one!  I decided to go with this adorable penguin from Stampin' Up's Penguin Place Bundle.  I love the colors from Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper, which is a Sale-a-bration product and only available through September.

What can you do with this sketch?  Be sure to link your card with Sketch Saturday so I can see.  Don't have a blog?  That's okay, you can also share over on my Facebook Page.  I always like to see what other stampers are creating!

MEASUREMENTS
Misty Moonlight Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"
Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper ~ 4" x 5-1/4"
Misty Moonlight Cardstock ~ 2" x 4-1/2"
Fresh Freesia Cardstock ~ 2" x 2-1/2"
Basic White Cardstock ~ 2" x 2-1/2", 4" x 5-1/2"
Scraps of Basic White, Basic Black and Mango Melody

  • Use the Penguin Punch to cut out the black body and white middle.  Punch out two Mango Melody Feet.  Glue the pieces together
  • Stamp the eyes with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the beak with Mango Melody
  • On a scrap of Basic White CS, stamp the scarf and gift box using Fresh Freesia ink.  Fussy cut both. Go ahead and glue the scarf on the penguin.
  • Use Fresh Freesia ink to stamp the sentiment at the top of the 2" Basic White CS
  • Attach the DSP to the center of the card front.  Attach the strip of Misty Moonlight over the DSP - line up the top left corner and the bottom right corner with the edges of the card front.  This should give you a perfect slant.  Trim off the excess CS with Paper Snips or your Paper Trimmer (turn the card upside down so you can cut perfectly along the card edge)
  • Glue the stamped 2" Basic White CS to the 2" Fresh Freesia CS, a little crooked. Then use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach them to the card front.
  • Glue the Penguin to the 2" Basic White CS. Use a Stampin' Dimensional to attach the gift box to the bottom corner.
  • Add three (white) Elegant Faceted Gems to the upper left corner, as shown.

For the inside, I used Fresh Freesia to stamp the rest of the sentiment, the balloon, and the balloon string on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White CS. Then, I added 'Happy Birthday' with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. After stamping, I glued the Basic White CS to the inside of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this card!
