Stampin' Up! Wonderful World ~ Sketch Saturday

This week's sketch from Sketch Saturday inspired this great background!  My daughter was surprised it was one I had made instead of a piece of Designer Series Paper.

To make the background, I first used Daffodil Delight and Starry Sky Stampin' Write Markers to color parts of an E Block.  Then, since for some reason I don't have a Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write Marker I placed a drop of Mossy Meadow Refill ink in the remaining corners.  I then used a Water Painter to spread the Mossy Meadow around a little.

Once the E Block was prepped, I lightly spritzed it and a 2-3/4" x 4-1/8" piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with water.  Then I placed the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper on the E Block and left it for a few seconds to soak up the ink.  Before doing anything else with this background, I set it aside to let it completely dry.

Instead of stamping the flowers, I fussy cut around the flowers on one of the pieces of Wonderful World Designer Series Paper.  There's so many great options for beautiful big flowers to cut out on this DSP!

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I hope you were inspired by the sketch or my card (or both!)

Stampin' Up! Wonderful World & Celebrating You

Today's card, once again featuring the Wonderful World Bundle (available FREE during Sale-a-bration), makes me think of the Disney version of Beauty & the Beast.  The Daffodil Delight colored DSP in the background reminds me of Belle's dress and of course the ROSE.  This one is pink, not red, but still, I've got Beauty & the Beast vibes looking at this card.  Just me?  That's okay.

I used Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut around the stamped flower and sentiment.  However, I adjusted the dies I used halfway through cutting so that I ended up with a shorter piece of cardstock than the die.  If you are unfamiliar with this technique, I have linked my YouTube Tutorial for this card near the end of this post for you.

I repeated the stamped rose on the inside of the card.  Then I used a Blending Brush to add just a touch of Melon Mambo ink around the rose.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  Here's that YouTube Tutorial I mentioned above.

Stampin' Up! Wonderful World ~ Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop

Hey Stampers & Friends!  Welcome to the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop.  I'm excited to be part of this fun and creative group sharing stamping ideas with you today!

Since my 'Stamp Set of the Week is Wonderful World (a floral set), I decided to use the colors from this month's photo as my inspiration.  To keep it simple, I decided to just use Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Smoky Slate...along with Basic Black and Basic White.

To start, I used a Blending Brush to add a bit of Smoky Slate to the center of a 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" piece of Basic White Cardstock.  Then I stamped the flowers over it with Pacific Point ink.  I also used Pacific Point to repeatedly stamp the longer leaf on the card base.  Since most of the card base ended up being covered, it wasn't super important that all the leaves were lined up perfectly.

I used a Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend to color about 15" of White Crinkle Ribbon before adding it to the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope my card, or the inspiration picture/colors have inspired your creativity.  Don't forget to visit the other blogs for more ideas and inspiration.

Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Wonderful World ~ Card from the Catalog

This week's Card from the Catalog can be found on p. 15 of Stampin' Up!'s Summer 2022 Sale-a-bration Brochure and features the Wonderful World Stamps and Designer Series Paper. I am excited to be creating with this beautiful floral bundle this week!

The only change I made to this card was switching the embellishments from Floral Trinkets to Brushed Brass Butterflies.  (This is no surprise to anyone who knows me.  I đŸ’œ butterflies!)
I did also add a smidge more of the

Stampin' Up! Bottled Happiness ~ Blended Beach & Sunset Background

This week I have had almost too much fun creating cards with Stampin' Up!'s Bottled Happiness Bundle.  I've especially loved playing with the Vintage Bottle Shaker Domes.  Before this week, I had never used any of Stampin' Up!'s domes...now I'm hooked!  (One idea I had for these domes was to gather a small amount of sand from every beach visited.  Sand from each beach could then be placed in its own bottle dome and a framed collage could be created to hold the collection.  Wouldn't that be a great travel souvenir!?  Now I just need to get myself to some beaches!)

When our family visited beaches on family vacations as I was growing up, I always wanted to find a message in a bottle!  I think I probably tossed a few in the Gulf of Mexico and maybe one in the Atlantic.

Stampin' Up!'s Faux Sea Glass Shapes are perfect for projects including beach scenes.  My oldest daughter visited beaches with real sea glass on her trip to Greece earlier this summer.  These really are the next best thing to the real deal!

Stampin' Up! Bottled Happiness

Are you ever just uninspired as to what colors you want to work with?  Sometimes I'm just not sure where to start when choosing colors.  One of the ways I get over this is to pick a Designer Series Paper and use some of the colors in it. For today's card, I did exactly that.  First, I chose the sheet of Texture Chic DSP that I wanted to use.  Then, I pulled out all of my ink pads that corresponded to the colors found in the DSP.  (I ended up using all of them except Soft Suede)

Did you catch the YouTube Tutorial I shared earlier this week?  In it I show how to stamp this flower stamp using multiple colors.  (Missed it?  Watch it here)  This is my favorite way to stamp with this stamp.  Also, I don't think I've mentioned (this week) that these Brushed Brass Butterflies are my all time favorite embellishment!  I will always use them every chance I get! :)

The layout for this pretty card was inspired by Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 479.  Sketch challenges like this one are a great way to jump in and start crafting! This challenge is open until 1pm EDT Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Stampin' Up! Bottled Happiness ~ Playing with Color Combinations

This simple card layout was so fast and easy to create that I decided to go ahead and create four versions of this card using different color combinations.

Each card uses three colors while the White 3/4" Frayed Ribbon and Brushed Brass Butterflies stay the same.

A simple change for this card would be to change the sentiment stamped in the top right corner.  This is one of those cards that could be for practically any occasion.

I think this final color combination is my favorite.  Which one is yours?

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Stampin' Up! Bottled Happiness ~ Card from the Catalog

Oh my it is GOOD to be back in my craft room!  (I've been sick for a bit and unable to craft)  I'm returning with another Card from the Catalog for you.  The original version of this card can be found on p. 16 of the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and features Bottled Happiness.

I only changed a couple of things about this card.  The original used Petal Pink ink and Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper.  I'm more of a Blushing Bride fan, so changed my pink to Blushing Bride and changed the DSP to Awash in Beauty.  Everything else is the same.

This was a fun card to make with several easy techniques and unusual elements.
Watch my video tutorial below to learn how to create this shaker card from the catalog.

Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos ~ Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog!  I'm excited to be joining the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop today.  I love being a part of these fun Blog Hops with other stampers sharing what we love and create!  Links to all the other blog posts for this hop are near the end of this post! - be sure to check them out! Hopefully you will be as inspired as I always am seeing what everyone else creates for this month's challenge.

This month we were challenged to come up with a Christmas in July card.  We had two choices for our theme: For a Cold Weather Christmas we could use the traditional colors of Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen Soft Succulent, Sahara Sand and Early Espresso.

For a Warm Weather Christmas we use more beachy colors like Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Petal Pink.  OF COURSE I chose the beachy warm weather Christmas!

Okay, so my card didn't REALLY have to be beachy, but since it's World Watercolor Month and I love water coloring simple beach landscapes, I thought this was perfect.  BONUS: I got to use my Faux Sea Glass Shapes.

My Stamp Set of the Week this week has been Hippest Hippos.  To make my hippo a bit more festive, I stamped and fussy cut the antlers from Penguin Place to dress him up a bit.  The 'Merry Christmas' stamp was from Peaceful Deer stamps.

Thanks again for visiting my blog today.  I hope you were inspired to create something great!  Don't forget to check out the other blogs in this hop.  I know I'm looking forward to doing just that tomorrow afternoon!

Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos card with a watercolor background

It is World Watercolor Month, so for today's card and video tutorial I shared how to make a quick watercolor background for this card featuring Hippest Hippos stamps by Stampin' Up!®  Of course, this easy background can be used for practically any stamp and in any color combination you love.

The background was creating using Blushing Bride, Polished Pink and Melon Mambo inks with Water Painters on Stampin' Up!'s Shimmery White Cardstock.
The hippo ballerina was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink then colored in with Polished Pink and Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends.

There's no limit to the fun you can have stamping with Hippest Hippos!  Stop by tomorrow for another fun and easy watercolor card with these happy hippos!

Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos ~ Small Slimline Card

I mentioned in Tuesday's video this week that I would create at least one card this week using only the Hippest Hippos stamp set (without the Hippo Dies).  This is that card!  I thought I would do two, but I just couldn't resist adding the dies for most of them.

This is a small slimline card, measuring 6-1/4" x 6-1/2" (scored at 3-1/4").  This is my favorite size of slimline to work with and perfect to use all three hippo stamps on!

The hippos were stamped on Basic White Cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then, they were quickly colored with Watercolor Pencils.  I did decide to lightly go over them with a Blender Pen after coloring.  Since I didn't stamp on a specialty paper I didn't use the Blender Pen much because I didn't want to get my cardstock too wet and mess it up.

What do you think of the Hippest Hippos?  I still think they are tons of fun! ;)

Happy Stamping!
