Stampin' Up! Butterfly Gala Card - Casually Crafting Blog Hop

Hi!  Welcome to my blog!  I'm so excited to be part of the Casually Crafting Design Team.  We are an international group of Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who want to share our take on casual crafting.  We will share what we love with you monthly.  Be sure to check out the rests of the design team's projects using the links at the bottom of this post.

This month we are all working off of this sketch, created by Sara Sayers.  My card doesn't look exactly like the sketch, but it was definitely my starting point!  Thanks, Sara, for this inspiration!

At first I wasn't sure where I was going with this card.  I knew I wanted mine to be a small slimline, and I decided on this sheet of DSP from Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper right away.   I love these colors!  So bright and happy!  Butterfly Gala seemed like a nice match with this paper, so I decided to give it a try!

I stamped the butterflies on Shimmery White Cardstock using Staz On Jet Black ink.  Remember to use StazonOn Cleaner to clean your stamp after stamping with StazOn ink. This is an alcohol based ink, so it's best to use when coloring with blender pens, watercolors, or Stampin' Write Markers.

I chose to use a Blender Pen with Magenta Madness and Bumblee Stampin' Pads to color both butterflies.  Once they were colored, I punched them out using the Butterfly Duet Punch.

The sentiment was stamped on Basic White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I then cut around the sentiment with my Paper Trimmer, and created a mat for it with Basic Black Cardstock.

The small butterfly was glued on with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  The large butterfly was attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Gently bend the wings up a little before attaching.

For the inside I added a couple of the small butterfly silhouettes along the edge.

Basic Black Card Base ~ 6-1/2" x 6-1/4", scored at 3-1/4"
DSP ~ 6" x 3"
Basic White (inside) ~ 6" x 3"
Basic Black ~ scraps
Basic White ~ scraps

Isn't this a cheerful card to let someone know you are thinking about them!?
I hope you enjoyed this card.  The product list is included at the end of this post.
