Stampin' Up! Penguin Place - Card from the Catalog

I love the adorable animal sets that Stampin' Up! releases each year, and this Penguin Place Bundle is no exception!  This is another versatile stamp set, great for kids, birthdays, penguin lovers, guys, Christmas, hello, friendship...well, you get the idea!  :)

To make it even better, during Sale-a-bration you can earn the coordinating Penguin Playmates 12"x12" Designer Series Paper FREE when place a qualifying order!

This card is another one straight out of the Sale-a-bration brochure.  You can find it on p. 5.  Don't have a brochure?  You can download one from the banner on the right for instant access.  The only change I made was in cutting out the sentiment.  I used Paper Snips to quickly cut around the sentiment, and Stampin' Up! used the Messages Die.

MEASUREMENTS
Thick Basic White Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"
Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper ~ 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
Basic White Cardstock ~ 1-3/4" x 5-1/2", multiple scraps
Optional: Basic Black scrap & Mango Melody scrap (for penguin inside the card)

  • Glue the DSP to the front of the card.
  • Stamp the snowy hill, using Pool Party ink, on the largest piece of Basic White CS.  Line the stamp up with the hill to make it go all the way across the CS.  Then, add a second hill, as shown.
  • On scraps of Basic White Cardstock -
    • stamp two balloons using Misty Moonlight ink
    • stamp the penguin using Tuxedo Black Memento ink
    • stamp just the penguin's wing (and a little extra to bend the wing when attaching to the penguin)
    • stamp the penguin's foot and beak, with Mango Melody ink
    • stamp the little hat using Fresh Freesia ink
    • use a Blending Brush to add a light layer of Just Jade ink, then stamp the sentiment over it with the Just Jade
  • Use Paper Snips to trim across the top of the snow bank, as shown.  Then, trim around the balloons, penguin, wing, foot, beak, hat and sentiment.
  • Glue the wing to the penguin, then the foot, beak and hat.  Glue the penguin sliding down the hill.
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach two pieces of twine to the balloons.  Then attach the balloons to the card front, as shown.
  • Use a glue dot inside the wing to attach the twine.  If needed, trim the ends of the twine.
  • Use a dab of glue and a Stampin' Dimensional to attach the sentiment over the balloon.
  • Add a Fresh Freesia Jewel to the top of the hat.

For the inside, punch out a penguin body and two feet.  Stamp the eyes, beak and bowtie on the penguin.  Then, glue him together and adhere to the inside of the card.
