Stampin' Up! Awesome Otters Birthday Card

Isn't this otter fun!?  I seem to be using that word a lot in my blog posts lately...fun.  I love fun stamps with fun colors, so I guess it makes sense to use it a lot!  Maybe I should find some new words to use in it's place, like delightful, jolly or maybe rollicking?

Today's delightful birthday card was inspired by this sketch challenge from Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  Isn't this a fun one?  And perfect for the colorful and cheery Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper!  This Awesome Otter Stamp Set and Sunshine & Rainbows DSP are FREE with a qualifying purchase through the end of this month.  Shop my links at the end of this post if you would like to get one or both!  (Questions? Layer 3 ~ Magenta Madness Cardstock ~ 1/2" x 3-1/2"
Layer 4 ~ Pool Party Cardstock ~ 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"
Layer 5 ~ Sunshine & Rainbows DSP ~ 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"
Layer 6 Magenta Madness Cardstock ~ 1-3/4" x 3-1/2"
A few scraps of Basic White Cardstock for the otter, hat and sentiment

  • Color two Polished Dots with a Dark Magenta Madness Stampin' Blend. set aside
  • Adhere Layer 1 to the Card Base
  • Use Banners Pick a Punch to cut an end off of Layer 2 & Layer 3.  Adhere these to the card front, as shown.
  • Stamp the otter, hat and sentiment on scraps of Basic White Cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • Use Stampin' Blends to color the otter and hat.  Fussy cut around the otter and hat.  Adhere the had to the otter's  head.
  • Cut layer 4 with the largest scallop circle from Layering Circles Dies
  • Cut layer 5 with the largest circle from Layering Circles Dies.  Adhere this circle on the scalloped circle.
  • Use the next to largest tag from Tailor Made Tags Dies to cut Layer 6.
  • Cut off a bit of the left side of the circles, as shown.
  • Attach the circles to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Adhere the tag to the circles.
  • Use Liquid Glue or Stampin' Seal to attach the sentiment to the otter.
  • Attach the otter, with it's sentiment banner and hat, to the tag with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Finish the front by placing the two Polished Dots on the top right corner of your card.

For the inside, adhere 1/2" x 4" strip of Sunshine & Rainbows DSP to the bottom of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White Cardstock.  Then, adhere the Basic White Cardstock to the inside of the card.   You may also decide to decorate the envelope flap with a piece of DSP.  To do this, I recommend cutting a piece of DSP to 6" x 2-1/4".  Place Liquid Glue on the envelope flap (with the flap open) , getting as close to the edges as possible.  Lay the DSP on the flap, and straighten it with the top edge.  Then, use Paper Snips to trim the excess DSP.
